Many believe it's for the best,

  Others don't,

  Of course,

But aren't afforded a choice in the matter.

  Sacrifice,

  Asceticism,

  Who does it impress?

  Deeply personal.

It's easy to get lost in pride and its pursuits.

  Pride hides.

  Dancing The Line

  Thanks for all the lies,

Once you open the door of doubt,

  Everything comes into question,

And motives multiply like fruit flies.

  Have you tried,

To dance between truth and lies?

The expanse between is grey and murky,

  Easy to lose anchor,

Sometimes you never set anchor again,

  But drift,

  Forever.

  Wait For The Evening Train

  It's that time again,

  Let's try to get some,

Don't let a little pitfall stop you,

  You'll still need it tomorrow.

  If one doesn't compromise,

  Or alter their standards,

You'll need to hold on and persevere,

  Your ride will come.

  The hardest times,

When you're a shark among whales,

A rusty gate lodged in a pond of pristine water,

  Your time will come.

  Drive Away Fast

Let's go for another ride downtown,

Find some new friends to keep us company.

We've got to keep things fresh,

  An image to uphold.

  We're better than everyone else,

  After all.

  Let's live for tonight,

  Tomorrow never comes,

  If we do it right,

  It'll last forever.

The way it ought to be.

  Potential

  The usual suspects,

Rehashing old things because they make you feel alive.

  Unrequited,

  Some strange satisfaction in that.

  Striving to manifest,

  The effort,

  The chase,

A very personal and private kind of fun.

  Dreamers dream,

  Without limits,

  Or borders,

  A slippery slope.

  A Place To Go

I wonder what the birds are saying,

  Messages floating in the wind,

  Peace,

  Soothing company.

  Everything that sways,

  Dancing to a song,

  Waving to the sun,

  Bowing to the moon.

  Hide under cover of darkness,

  Silence is a blanket,

  Guided by moonlight,

  Off to lands unknown,

Who knows if I'll ever return.

The Way The World Works (The Real World)

  Let's play the interpretation game,

  You tell me what's important,

I'll compare it to my own views,

Bash them down and assimilate yours.

  Perceptions,

  Points of view,

  Mine are unsatisfactory,

  Yours are stone.

  I can fight and fight,

  I'm good at it.

  Today I'll just deceive,

  Nod and smile,

  Nod and smile.

  What You Have

  Getting what you want,

  Or what you need,

  What's meant to be.

As long as one is satisfied,

You shouldn't complain about the others.

  No use for greed,

  Be grateful.

  We all get by somehow,

  One way or another.

Some things can be improved upon,

A point arrives where effort becomes overkill.

  Death Or Rebirth?

  The feeling of obligation,

Let the wave of boredom and pressure wash over you,

Power through it if it has to be done,

Let it take care of itself,

  If you can.

  You might have a fear,

That would crumble you if you let it,

  It's a lie.

  It will change you,

  But you'll win,

  Stronger,

  Better.

  Oases

  We meet again,

  Arch enemies,

  Old friends,

  Neutral parties.

  Times may call for you,

To let go of all three,

  For sanity,

  Prosperity.

  Don't fret the lonely path,

Even the loneliest find company in the strangest of places.

Perspective can turn the most desolate landscape,

Into the most beautiful desert varnish.

  It's That Time Again

  The worst is over,

  Hard times have passed,

It came on stronger than it really was,

  "One mind" helped power through.

  It's never-ending,

Only months away before it happens again,

  Like a terminal illness,

There's no getting rid of it.

  Only death is an escape,

Unless hell is just like this,

  How sad that would be,

  No reprieve.

  Unpredictable

  New friends,

  Some good,

  Others not so much,

Hard to tell without the key.

  Time,

  It reveals all,

  How fast?

  How slow?

  Caution,

  Pace,

  Fear?

  Openness?

  Choose wisely,

  There are prices to pay,

  Outcomes hazy.

  The Best Things In Life

  Anticipation,

  For the simplest things,

  More likely to deliver,

  Easier to appreciate.

  That which is free,

  Satisfies more than most,

  The money minded,

  Won't acknowledge its merit.

  It's possible,

  I can't speak for everyone,

  Unless I ask them all.

  Unlikely,

  Life's work,

  To know,

  Predict.

  When Push Comes To Shove

  Things are okay,

  Now,

  Being honest about wants,

  No need to explain.

Taking the risk is more important than ever,

  Yes,

  No,

  Unabashed honesty.

  To hell with the consequences,

Better to draw lines in the sand now,

  Than having to push later.

  Clarity,

  The best messenger.
